Gooch was born in Toledo, Ohio in the year of 1979. While being raised by gypsies and thieves, he began his journey towards radio stardom when he shoplifted a Care Bears FM transistor radio. Listening to the radio was a soothing release, but becoming a broadcaster didn’t become a personal obsession for Gooch until he heard that they never drug test on-air personalities.
After graduating from the 4th grade Gooch set his sights on Las Vegas. Our hero endured countless hours of ridicule and teasing because of his mullet that he refused to cut during his school years in Sin City. Some say it helped him be the man he is today, others say he needs to refrain from acting like a bitch, stop blaming high school for all his problems, and grow the F up.
Fast forward to 2007, while calling out for loose change on the corner while dressed in a vomit stained leisure suit and golf shoes, his current program director heard his calls for pennies and cents and walked up to him and said, “I love your voice, would you like to be our afternoon drive personality on KOMP 92.3 the Rock Station?” (That’s how it happened. Promise.)
Which brings us to today. Our Buddy Gooch is living his dream and he wants the kids to know that they to can achieve that dream of working on the radio, being broke, eating ramen, having 2 roommates, sleeping in the small bedroom, having no other trade skills, and don’t forget wearing the same pants everyday to work. If you dream it, you can live it.
