Clay Baker is an enigma wrapped up in a riddle. Why is he the only male broadcaster at Lotus who showers, shaves, and dresses in slacks, everyday? Why does he only shop at the Junior Executive department at Dillards? At the age of 33, why would he use words like, "slacks"?
Here is what we know: Clay graduated from Michigan State University, barely. 15 brutal years of radio experience, focusing his efforts and subsequent fat in the dynamic genre of Sports Talk Radio. Growing up in Detroit, he listened to the pioneers of Sports Talk on the AM dial on the old school, Sports Entertainment Network in Las Vegas and apparently thought it would be a good idea to follow their tread. He did. He also found out how little money there is in radio and often wages are paid through pastry and coffee. And now he's the best dressed nearly-homeless man in the building.
Despite bordering on sheer poverty and disgracing his family, Clay Baker has made a moderate success in Sports Talk Radio. Mostly because he won't go away or that he makes a mean cup of hobo chili. Clay has produced The Fabulous Sports Babe, JT The Brick, Scott Ferrall, and Papa Joe Chevalier, as well as, The WiseGuys and Mr. Sunshine with the grumpy, Steve Cofield and bumpy, Mike "The Sports Pig" Responts. In addition, Clay has worked under 3 different National Networks: Fox Sports Network (LA), Sporting News Network (Chicago), and the acclaimed and bankrupt Sports Fan Radio Network in Las Vegas.
The mercurial Clay Baker. He's a Producer, by trade, and you can hear his handywork on both Lotus sports stations, ESPN and FOX. You'll know it when Clay is behind the board, in the studio he's the rue that makes every ingredient around him taste better. Whatever that means.
